Security and privacy
Your contracts are yours alone.
Legal work is private by nature. Here is, simply, where April keeps your information, who can see it, and how you can check a signed document yourself.
How April protects your work
Six things we do every day.
No direct access to the database
Your browser never reads the database. Every request goes through April's server, which checks who you are and what you're allowed to see.
Private files, short links
Uploads are private. To open one, April makes a link that works for 5 minutes, and every download is recorded.
ID documents watched closely
Every time someone opens an ID document, April records who and when.
April's team can't read your wording
April's admin console shows usage counts and account status only, never the text of your contracts or chats.
Every admin change logged
Anything April's staff change, like a plan or credits, is written to an audit log.
Keys kept out of the code
Passwords and service keys live in Google Secret Manager, never in the app or the browser.
Who sees what
Who can see what.
Your account decides who sees your work. Inside a company or firm, roles decide the rest.
| Your contracts and chats | Usage counts | Signed documents | |
|---|---|---|---|
| You | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Your team, by role | Contracts they're allowed to see | Yes | Yes |
| People who sign | Only the document they sign | No | Their own copy |
| April's admin team | No | Yes | No |
Check it yourself
Signed documents you can verify.
When a contract is sent, April records its SHA-256 fingerprint, and checks it again at every signature. The signed PDF carries that fingerprint. Upload any copy at theaprilai.com/verify to confirm it hasn't been changed since.
Verify a signed documentSigned by all parties on 12 Oct 2026. This copy is the same as the one April recorded.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from Settings. Your contracts and chats are deleted. Signed agreements are kept for the other signers, because they're part of their record too.
How long are signed documents kept?
8 years, even if the sender closes their account, so every signer can still download their copy.
Is April certified to a security standard?
Not yet. This page describes what April does today. We'll add certifications here once we have them.
